New Ad Agency Listing: MarketLeverage

MarketLeverage has been getting alot of buzz over the Blogosphere in recent months. They were originally PrecisionPlay Media, started in 2001. MarketLeverage boasts to be one of the largest CPA networks and state that they have several exclusive deals.

What I find most interesting about this particular network though is their MLTV “Affiliate News” show. It can be found at http://www.marketleveragenews.com/ and I honestly don’t know of any other Ad Networks currently doing something like this. While many Ad Networks are now using Company Blogs and other methods of keeping in touch with their userbase, this is a very unique method and I have to applaud MarketLeverage for this idea.

Not only are they providing their Publishers with great information about their current promotions, but they are providing this information to Publishers who have not yet signed up with them! This is also quite unique as they are discussing price points which is almost completely unheard of in the Ad industry!

While I’ve only heard about them in the past few months, making it sound like they could be a “new kid on the block”, they are offer features which appear to be completely unique to their Network. I’m impressed with what I have seen from them thus far and definately will have to do a full review and interview with them sometime in the near future. For now, I think I am going to give them a whirl and see what they have to offer.

A Short To Do List For Release

I have just a few things left to work on before the full launch of the site, which I should be able to take care of today. The items I have left to knock off are:

Fix Search Bars
Post Privacy Policy
Create Page: The Big List (of Ad Networks)
Update “Friends” and “Misc Favorites” links.
Change integer sign in page titles to a bullet.
Sign up for ReviewMe and post ReviewMe information
Add Chitika Ads to page
Take a look at TTZ Media and possibly add TTZ Media Ads to the page
See what I can do about the “Recent Posts” on the right to distinguish them from each other (the ones that wrap blend with the ones that don’t).
While I will be fine with the forums not being fully skinned upon release, I will begin work on skinning them once I have all of the other list items knocked off.

Final Large Addition Of Ad Networks Before Site Launch

This will be the last large addition to the Ad Network Listings before site release. There are certainly other Ad Networks and Affiliate Programs to add to the Ad Network Listings, but pretty much all of the Networks on my list are now included. I’ll be doing further research after the site launch to find more Ad Networks that may have been overlooked. If you are part of a Network which has been overlooked, please send me the information! With more than 220 Ad Network Listings noone should be lacking options. Here is the list of Ad Networks which were added today:

Made some great headway today on the Ad Network Listings. Today was a mix of CPA Networks, CPC Networks, Text-Ad Networks, and Shopping Networks. I spoke with Vik over at Chitika today and I am going to setup an interview for next month after the site’s release. I will also likely be using Chitika to further monetize The Edge. Added a large number of CPA Advertising Networks to the Ad Network Listings today. No luck with my phpBB3 import issue just yet, so I may be modding my phpBB2 board to work under php5 so that I can move forward with the Wiki’s. I still have some time though as I still have a few Ad Networks to add in before site release. I am almost through my current list though and once I am finished with that, I will be adding more Networks after the site goes public. Here are the new Networks:

Today I installed an ad rotation plugin and got it working in my other script as well. Using similar methods I will be adding other widgets to the other portions of the website. Tomorrow I will be working on setting up “the big list” of ad agencies and then inputting more agencies into the database. This is, of course, assuming that I have not made any progress on converting my phpbb2 install to phpbb3. I’m having an issue with the conversion process which is causing all PMs to be lost. It’s a big (250MB+) database, so it isn’t exactly a quick conversion. My hope is to have PHP5 and MySQL5 installed next week and begin work on the Wiki’s.

The time line which I am currently working to follow is:

19th-23rd: Finish script upgrades/conversions.
19th-23rd: Install MediaWiki’s
19th-23rd: Skin MediaWIki’s
19th-23rd: Finish Ad Agency Listings
26th-30th: Begin work on Wiki Content
26th-30th: Finishing Touches

WSNLinks Alpha Five

I updated to WSNLinks Alpha 5 today. Ran into several errors that made it pretty much unusable. It is alpha though, so that is to be expected. Reverted back about 10 minutes ago and all is back to normal. I really would like to use the alpha for phpbb3 integration, but that doesn’t appear to be fully functional yet either. I reported all of the bugs I encountered and hopefully Paul will take a look at it soon. If the bugs I reported are fixed for Alpha 6, I will likely be trying another upgrade.

The main reason for testing the alpha is because I need to upgrade Forums.ModemHelp.Net to phpbb3. However my copy of WSNLinks on Portal.ModemHelp.Net is integrated with the copy of phpbb2 on Forums. The current release of WSNLinks does not support phpbb3 integration, but the next version will, hence the need for the alpha.

I can’t really release this website until those are upgraded as I need to upgrade to php5 in order for MediaWiki to be installed. What I may end up doing is just adding some modifications to phpbb2 in order for it to work under php5 as an interim solution. I’d really like to upgrade to phpbb3 though for better Spam control, among other reasons.

I just started making lunch for Katie and I a few moments ago and thought I would update the Blog with today’s progress on the Ad Network additions.

Am making some pretty decent progress today and can tell that I am picking up speed in adding the networks. Pretty sure that I can have this finished by the end of the week. Once that is finished I can move on to the Wiki’s. Almost there.
