Today I’d like to speak about a more “evil” (ala JC?) way of promoting your website: Become a Top Commentator on a big blog. Whether or not this will work for you, depends on the blog. Things to look for:
- Does the blog use a Top Commentators widget? Answer needed: Yes
- Does the blog use rel=nofollow for its top commentators? Answer needed: No
- Does the blog receive high traffic? Answer needed: Yes
If all of these questions were answered correctly, then it would be a great idea to become a Top Commentator on that blog! ESPECIALLY if the widget is only reset weekly, monthly, yearly, or never. When the widget is reset daily it may not be worth keeping up all of the time, mostly because of the time it would take to do so. If you are becoming a Top Commentator on a blog, please make sure to do so by posting insightful and relevant replies. Nobody wants a post troll who makes tons of irrelevant spammy posts.

nice theme, from where did you got this…..or purchased it??
Thanks Raman! I am glad you like it. I did not download or purchase this theme, but made it myself. See:
http://webmastersedge.net/home/2008/the-design/
I definitely see some changes that I would like to make to the design in the future, but it will take some major design changes, so it will likely be a few months off yet, but I am satisfied overall with how it turned out. The theme feels sort of….”newsie” to me, which is what I was going for.
Thank you for your comments and hope to see you sticking around.
I don’t really know a lot about blogging yet. I have livejournal and myspace pages, but those are really just random ramblings that I use to chat with friends. I’m learning through you more about blogging. That being said I’d like to know if you can post a “cheat sheet” of sorts of blogging terms for the beginner?
I’m not really sure how to find out if another site has a commentator “widget”, and if so how do I figure out when it’s reset?
I’ll look into the terms cheat sheet.
What you’ll wan to look for is a “Top Commentators” section on their left or right sidebars.
