Due to my little aforementioned “adventure” earlier today, I ended up with less time to work on the site than I had hoped. I did have some time to visit a large number of Blogs that use Entrecard and drop my card there though! This is a very…manual…way to create buzz and advertise your site, but it has a dual-purpose:

  • Drops your card, giving you a chance for the Webmaster of that site taking a look at what you have to offer.
  • Gives you points to advertise your Entrecard on someone’s site.
  • Gives you a chance to gain more points if those webmasters who viewed your card end up dropping their card on your site as well.

In a way it seems like an MLM scam, but it is definitely worth your while to bank up some points and toss your card on some other sites when you are first starting out. As traffic to your website builds, the number of Entrecard members advertising on your site grows. This will increase your personal credits, and eventually you won’t have to perform very many manual drops as you will end up banking all the points you need through others targeting you for displaying their cards.

Another method of banking points that I have run into is the idea of “PowerDropping”. One can “PowerDrop” by using sites listing Entrecard websites that make it easy to quickly find and drop your card on their site. Not only does this help you to bank points, but if you get your site listed in these “PowerDrop” lists, you’ll end up with 100’s or even 1000’s of drops, allowing you to bank even more points. While “PowerDropping” seems all well and good, it also defeats part of the purpose of Entrecard, which is to get Bloggers to actually view eachother’s blogs and find other blogs that interest them.
