Promoting The Edge Day Four (Part 1): Annoying Little Icons Replaced, A Note About Entrecard, And RSS

Ok, so those little icons for bookmarking/sharing that Social Bookmarks Reloaded added were annoying. There were too many of them and the addon doesn’t have the configuration options I would like. To add the config values I want I’d need to do some serious rewriting to the addon, so I ditched it. In its place I added an AddThis button. I like the ShareThis option at the bottom of the posts, but it just doesn’t seem prominent enough for my tastes. I’ve seen AddThis being used on numerous popular blogs, so I’ll run with both for now.

On another note, Entrecard is even better than I thought it might be. I mean, we’ve all heard the buzz and have seen it on 100’s of blogs, but it is a really great networking tool. If used properly it could really help bring in the traffic. Pictured to the left is my Entrecard. While it is by no means the only way you should drive traffic to your blog, it is an excellent program indeed.

It appears that my site is gaining popularity quickly and it now costs 64 entrecard credits to purchase an Entrecard spot on my blog. I’ve earned over 100 credits in under 24 hours and have started purchasing Entrecard spots on selected blogs. I feel that Entrecard’s operation is pretty ingenious and only wish that I have started with Entrecard on day one rather than day three. If you are an Entrecard member, make certain to drop your card, and drop a comment or two on the blog. I’ll be sure to take a trip over to yours and maybe drop a comment or two myself.

I decided not to show my number of Feedburner RSS subscribers until I have a decent number of readers. I think that I will make the “magic number” 100 subs. I’ve been promoting the site for three days and I have gone from 3 subscribers to 12. Twelve isn’t really that many subs, but it is a very good start. I hope to surpass 100 by the end of the month.
